GGAMM - S-PLUS/R-functions for the estimation of generalized geoadditive mixed models

  • This software is no longer supported. Of course, you are still welcome to use it and to send me questions about it, but the answers might not be very informative and I won`t spend any time on changing the code / functionality. I strongly recommend to use BayesX instead.
  • Description:
GGAMM consists of a number of S-PLUS/R-functions that have been developed as a part of my diploma thesis. They allow the estimation of generalised geoadditive mixed models, that is, semiparametric regression models including nonlinear effects of continuous covariates (modelled as P-splines), structured spatial effects (modelled as Markov random fields) and subject specific independent random effects (random intercepts and random slopes). Inference is based on the representation of generalised geoadditive mixed models as generalised linear mixed models. The inverse smoothing parameters of the P-splines and the Markov random field may then be viewed as variance components in this generalised linear mixed model and may therefore be estimated via (restricted) maximum likelihood.

  • Extensions:
An extended version including several additional features is implemented in BayesX. I strongly recommend to use the BayesX implementation instead of these functions.
  • Bugs in earlier versions:
    • Up to version 0.2 (21.07.2003) confidence intervals for random effects and spatial effects were not computed correctly.
